NDIA-GLAC Board of Directors Meeting, 3 May 2007

ATTENDANCE: Present were: Steve Scott, Wayne Kauffman, Jeanne Innis-Olson, Dan Burkett (proxy), Nancy FitzGerald (proxy), Lorne Caddick, Len Jacobson (proxy), Jim Dalton, Bob Conger, Linda Taylor (proxy), Spencer Bauer, Jim Gates, Jim Grace, Eileen Leonhardy, Chris Kalivas, John Mathews, Dave Murphy (proxy), Bob Recker, Anil Shahbhag, Bob Smith (proxy), Don Tomajan (proxy). Welcoming comments were presented by Lorne Caddick.. Those board members present gave company remarks. PRESIDENT’S REMARKS: Two Board Members have resigned – Malina Hills (Aerospace Corp) and Bob Valleni (Northrop Grumman). Northrop Grumman will nominate a replacement for Bob; Aerospace will continue to be represented by Dan Burkett. Upcoming meetings: June 7 at Northrop Grumman; July 12 at Rolling Hills CC, hosted by Gen Dalton; there will be no August meeting; Sept meeting is still open; October will be at Raytheon; November meeting will be hosted by Howard Appleman WORKPLACE DEVELOPMENT: need to cultivate youth. Bring your ideas to the STEM Committee hosted by Wayne Kaufman. SECRETARY’S REPORT: Nancy Fitzgerald was not able to attend. Steve Scott presented minutes from the last meeting as prepared by Linda Taylor. The minutes require work – please submit your changes and inputs.
TREASURER’S REPORT: Dan Burkett was not present. There was no treasurer’s report given.
COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Industry Days: Bob Recker presented the Industry Days expenses. He expects there to be a $12K to $14K profit. 2008 Industry Days are scheduled for 15 – 17 April. Presentations for 07’s Industry Days will be on same website. WCD - Bryan Adams not present. The discussions related to WCD indicate that there will be a small profit from the 07 WCD. SMC Interaction & Public Affairs – Linda Taylor was not present. Steve Scott read her report. Disbursements – Lorne Caddick reported that the disbursements budget has been spent with the exception of $2K. We have distributed $10K to USO; $2K to Treat Any Soldier (anyairman.com); $5K to Greater LA VA Hospital; $1K to SMC Recognition Awards. We still have a commitment to the Wes Clark Scholarship of $250 per year. Wayne suggested ROTC Scholarships of $500 each – giving 4 to students pursuing STEM related subjects. Wayne will give names of ROTC POCs to Lorne. Programs – Bob Conger reported that he continues to have discussions with Congressional. offices. He is attempting tto get a Congressional representative to speak in the July timeframe, butt schedules are difficult to pin down. Wayne suggested having a retired “Capt of Industry” as a speaker. Golf – Spence Bauer reported that the committee had “finished getting started”. Public Affairs has released the flier. He requested help for the golf tournament since Sara Davis is out. He requires assistance soliciting and collecting gifts and T-prizes. The next Board meeting will be hosted by Northrop Grumman on June 7.
