Board members followed with their respective company’s business highlights and announcements. PRESIDENT’S REMARKS: - West Coast Dinner: Steve solicited “lessons learned” from the Dinner Committee members and will look forward to comments. Perception is that overall, the event was a success, and a good job by all that helped make it happen. A first look at the financials indicates we did make a profit, but not all the billing is sorted out with the hotel, therefore a report is on hold. Thanks to Bryan Adams for volunteering as the Chairman again for the ‘09 event. - National “Project Lead the Way”: a candidate for STEM (Steve will address with Wayne Kauffman) - Professional Organization’s Industry Social: On 2 May 2008 there will be an Industry Social and Farewell celebration for Lt Gen Michael Hamel at the Officer’s Club, SMC. A Retirement Dinner (invitation only) will be held on 15 May, followed by a Change of Command Ceremony on 16 May at Ft MacArthur. SECRETARY’S REPORT: Nancy Fitzgerald submitted the minutes and the BoD accepted them with appropriate changes noted. Bill Hutchinson will post to the website. An updated member roster was sent around for corrections/additions and to poll attendance. TREASURER’S REPORT: Dan Burkett was absent; the Treasurer’s report was deferred. Steve reminded the BoD that an audit on the books for the West Coast Dinner was still needed, and took an action to resolve. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Membership: Len Jacobsen reported no changes. Communications: Linda Taylor presented a report on SMC activities. (Organizational changes at SMC, Establishment of the AF & NRO Space Protection Program, a new Defense Missile Systems Group [STSS] with Col Pelc as Group Commander) Disbursements: Jay Staub provided a list of actual disbursements made by the NDIA-GLAC from ‘05 through ‘07, and a proposed list for ’08 which totaled $24,000. The Board concurred with the disbursements planned to date, ($1,000 Top Three, $1,500 Veterans and $10,000 USO) and will address the balance of the plan for ’08 after WCD proceeds are clearly understood. Programs: Bob Conger reported he was still working with Jane Harmon’s office to schedule an Executive Breakfast/Lunch meeting. Suggestion was made to solicit Industry for a consolidated Lunch event (AIAA, NDIA, and AFA) to drive participation from Air Force and seek Lt Gen Hamel’s help with HASC. Golf: Spence Bauer and Steve Scot met with the JAG. They are still working on an acceptable plan for military sponsorship. The date has been scheduled for 3 June at Los Serranos Country Club. STEM WFD: Eileen Leonhardy reported on a Math learning non-profit group, Mind Institute. Recommendation to the BoD was to donate $2500-$5000, preferably to a named school of our choosing in the San Pedro area. Eileen will research and report back at the next BoD Meeting. The donation needs to be made by 1 June to qualify. West Coast Dinner: Bryan Adams was absent, the report was deferred. Next Board Meeting: The meeting will be hosted by Linda Taylor and Rich Waterman on 8 May at SAIC, Torrance. A meeting notice will also be sent electronically. OLD/NEW BUSINESS: None The meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m. Respectfully Submitted By, Nancy H FitzGerald Secretary
